AGAINST DOWRY
Dear father and mother, I am not a burden on anyone’s head Neither is my boat stuck in the midstream I will be the oar and I will fight the waves How can money ever sell me? Yesterday, I was walking holding my father’s fingers And, tomorrow, I will be his walking stick too! Dear mother, I am the bird of your nest And I’ll fly back home only after I get the grain! In whose nature, there is no curiosity or excitement Who liked my money more than he liked me? I don’t need such a marriage and this is the time to say NO I will walk alone and I will meet the fate alone How can money ever sell me? When the wires of the heart aren’t attached… What’s the point in wasting the money on couple of customs? Is there no life ahead of marriage? Or marriage is the only book of all records? I will shine like a morning star and I will be filled like a night dream How can money ever sell me?
